Sri Lanka: Government to Initiate Dialogue With International Media

17 May 2010

The Sri Lankan government has decided to initiate a dialogue with the international media to disprove the misleading information provided on the country by certain media outlets and convey the correct information to the world.

Newly appointed Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella addressing the journalists from the hill country capital of Kandy on Saturday said the international community in the European countries and the governments there as well as the local diplomats have been misled by certain Tiger sympathetic media outlets carrying out distorted propaganda on behalf of the LTTE.

According to Rambukwella, certain sections of the international media give publicity to LTTE propaganda and have created a wrong impression of the actual post war situation in the country.

Therefore, the government has decided to initiate a dialogue with the Tamil Diaspora and foreign news agencies and media organizations to give the proper picture.
