Laos: New Local Film Addresses Climate Change

1 July 2010

A love story “Khor Phieng Hak” (for love) to be released in Laos on  7 July, will be aimed at mobilising people to do environmentally friendly agriculture including organic farming and to understand the issue of global warming.

“Khor Phieng Hak” has been shot in popular tourist spots such as Vangvieng district in  Vientiane province and features farmer’s life and a moral on living conditions, which will help people to live an environmentally-friendly lifestyle.

The movie is the fourth film produced by the Lao Art Media Company, a leading local film production company. It has so far produced “Bod Hien Sivith” (life lesson) in 2005, “Duang Jai Khong Phor” (heart of father) in 2006, and a romantic movie “Sabaidee Luang Prabang” in 2007. Those stories were popular, attracting a large number of audience both at home and abroad.

A film which started production in mid-2009 was planned for release in early 2010. But it has been postponed due to unfavourable weather condition. The producing team has faced difficulties such as changeable weather.
