China: Green Dam Internet Filter Set To Collapse

A controversial government-backed software project to filter internet content, is reportedly on the brink of collapse, in China.

Last year, Chinese authorities announced that all computers sold in China would have to have the Green Dam software installed in order to filter out pornographic and violent material. But the roll out has been hit by a series of delays after an outcry in China and from other countries; accusing Chinese authorities of trying to tighten web controls and block politically sensitive sites. Now, the government funding of the Green Dam project has come to an abrupt halt.
